Investigations

Picture
Private investigation rates vary depending on your case specifics.  AIA will work with you to design the best approach possible to find the answers you seek.   Our investigators will discuss your situation with you in order to tailor make our investigation successful for you in a cost effective and timely manner.

After discussing the scope of your case, AIA can provide you with a general quote of the expected costs and timeline for completion.  Private investigation fees and costs depend on the assignment. Our rates may vary due to the complexity of the case, scope, depth of investigation, the amount of hours needed to cover the case, the times of day worked, and time constraints. For example, a rush case may incur an additional fee.  Furthermore, rates vary by geographic location, by the type of case and by the skill level of the private investigator required. In most cases, a retainer for services is required in advance and any unused retainer will be refunded.  Like attorneys and accountants, our private investigation rates cover our comprehensive time to include conducting investigations, research, oral and written reporting. In some situations, an investigation may be billed under a flat private investigation rate; these situations will be identified on a case by case basis and the rates disclosed with our general quote.
In this economy, we understand that costs matter.  We would like the opportunity to find the answers you need.   Please give us a call to allow us to accurately quote a private investigator rate for your specific case.

Background Investigations

Pre-Employment

Alaska Investigation Agency, LLC provides employment background screening.  You will receive the information you need every time with AIA. Can your business afford to skip the crucial step of an employee background investigation? Not taking a few moments to run an employment background check can cost your business in the long run. An employment check can catch things a prospective employee may not want to reveal - a dangerous criminal past, a falsified social security number, employment history, educational degrees and professional licenses. Our employment background screening services will also detect issues that may put your business at serious liable risk such as a criminal history, drug use, or an unacceptable motor vehicle driving record. Let us help you mitigate your risk for potential problems today.

We design and help you implement a background screening program based on your industry’s requirements and practices.  This will help you create a safe work environment, higher productivity and reduced potential liability.

Tenant/Landlord
Background checks are crucial when screening for potential renters or house sitters. We offer tenant screening services which can be as simple as just social security number verification and employment verification, or as detailed to include renter history, residential history, credit, criminal history, drug history, sex offender history, and civil claims to include eviction checks.

Other Background Checks
Our background checks can also help you make more informed decisions on choosing any one in your extended workforce, community projects, and family life, such as:

  • Business Partners
  • Consultants
  • Contractors
  • Executives
  • Investors
  • Nannies & Caregivers
  • Repairmen
  • Seasonal Staff
  • Students
  • Temporary Staff
  • Vendors
  • Volunteers

Workers Compensation

Picture
Businesses in Alaska face one of the highest insurance rates for workers' compensation coverage of any state.
  • Every Alaska business with employees is required to have workers' compensation insurance.
  • This is a substantial business expense, especially for small businesses, family operations, and start up companies.
  • In 2011, Alaskans reported paying 76% of every dollar for workers' compensation benefits toward medical benefits - not for lost wages or retraining benefits - despite the fact that Alaska's median household income is usually in the top five of the nation.
  • In 2011, medical benefits consumed approximately 30% more of workman's comp benefits than the national average.
  • In 2012, Alaska was predicted to take over the No. 1 position for the most expensive insurance rate charged for workers' compensation insurance in 2013.
  • CRITICAL concern, the rising medical costs in the USA will hit Alaskan businesses harder than the lower 48 states in regards to workman's comp insurance rates simply because $3 out of $4 in workers' comp costs are already spent on medical benefits.
Strategies to Lower Costs of Workman's Compensation Insurance

Pre-employment Background Checks New Employees:
  • This validates the applicant's history and disclosure, and minimizes the company's risk of hiring under false pretense.
  • 50% of all applications & resumes contain false information.
  • 33% of all business failures are employee theft related.
  • Workplace violence accounts for 18% of all violent crimes.
  • 67% of negligent hiring trial cases result in an average of over $600,000 in damages.
  • Contact your insurance carrier for guidance on methods to reduce insurance premiums.  Your local agent is a great resource.
Understand your MOD - your experience modifier.  This is a numeric representation of your business's loss and claim history, and this is used by the state to calculate your premium.  A new business usually has a MOD of 1.00.  Every workman's comp claim affects your MOD.

Make safety a FIRST priority.  A safer workplace lowers the number of worker's injuries and the number of claims.

Review your payroll.  A professional review of your company's payroll history can result in lower estimated payroll and therefore lower resulting premiums.
